The rhinoplasty procedure does not have a difficult postoperative period and the pain is negligible. The main sensation described by patients postoperatively is that of mild “heaviness”. During the procedure, a “small cast” is placed to stabilize the result, which is removed one week after the surgery along with some very fine external sutures.
For the first 24 hours, you will have small gauzes in your nostrils, so breathing will be through the mouth. After their removal and gradually with the help of nasal rinses with saline solution, breathing is restored and in several cases, where the pre-existing problem was also functional, patients breathe significantly better. Usually, there are bruises around the eyes which subside after the first two weeks. Postoperatively, there is edema (swelling) in the nose area, 60-70% of which subsides within the first month, while the rest gradually subsides in 6 months to a year after the procedure.
