The ideal breast is proportionate with each woman’s body type and is based on her body metrics (height, chest circumference, existing breast) as well as her personal desires. Always in conjunction with the experience and aesthetic sense of the chosen plastic surgeon.
The ideal breast follows the “golden ratio” of 45:55, which indicates that 45% of the breast volume is above the nipple and 55% is below. The “golden ratio” is not something new; it can be found in classic works from antiquity. Achieving this ideal proportion relies heavily on both surgical technique and the selection of the appropriate implant.
Breast augmentation can enhance and restore the volume and shape of the breasts using specialized implants, thus improving the overall appearance of a woman while simultaneously boosting her self-confidence. It is the procedure that emphasizes femininity more than any other.
The “golden ratio” rule”
The plastic surgeon uses two types of implants, round and anatomical (teardrop or “tear” shape) implants. The implants can be placed under the mammary gland, under the fascia of the pectoralis major muscle, or under the pectoralis major muscle.
The doctor decides in the operating room the optimal way to place the implants, depending on the morphology of the chest, breast, and based on special measurements made during your visit.
The implants are placed either with a Inframammary incision (when the incision is made in the fold under the breast) or with a periareolar incision (when the incision is made around the areola).

During your medical visit at ABH Medical Group, the plastic surgeon will recommend, based on the morphology of your breasts, your needs, and your expectations, the appropriate breast augmentation technique and the ideal type of implants that fit your case.
The total duration of the surgery is usually one hour, and overnight hospitalization is not necessary. You can return to your activities after 2-3 days, and you should not feel significant pain post-operatively.
Usually, the Inframammary approach and implant placement under the pectoral muscle (dual plane technique) is preferred. The placement of implants is done based on new global guidelines regarding surgical technique (“14-step plan” or 14-point-plan), aiming to minimize the possibility of complications related to the procedure.
The silicone implants used at ABH have a long lifespan and carry all certifications (FDA, CE). However, a woman may choose to replace them after several years, due to aging, pregnancy, etc. In most cases, implants do not need to be changed.
The results of breast surgery are immediately visible. For the first few weeks, there may be slight swelling that gradually subsides, and the breasts take their final shape.
A woman can undergo breast augmentation after reaching adulthood, at the age of 18. There is no upper age limit for breast augmentation.
Silicone implants do not prevent breastfeeding. What is recommended for a woman who has had breast augmentation surgery is to wear a good bra that will properly support the breasts during breastfeeding and pregnancy.
The procedure lasts about 1 hour and you can go home the same evening or the next day. The stitches are internal and absorbable. The first change will be made the day after the procedure. The result is usually immediately visible while the feeling and texture of the breast gradually improves within the first two months after the procedure.
Post-operatively, the use of a comfortable bra without underwires (sports or nursing bra) is required for about a month. Initially, edema is observed, gradually subsides and the breast takes its final form after 2 months.
Serious complications are not common, but as with any procedure, they exist in breast augmentation. These are mainly associated with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory issues, as well as smoking or taking certain medications.
The incision is described as a thin red line under the breast or around the nipple, and its visibility depends on skin quality and adherence to post-operative instructions. It usually becomes less noticeable over time.
